Katie Melara
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Katie Melara and I am a local Realtor with Best Properties, Inc. serving the Greater Bluefield and the Princeton area. I am licensed in both West Virginia and Virginia as a Realtor since 1997.
The purpose of this note is to let you know a bit about myself. I grew up in Bluefield and attended schools in the Mercer County area from First grade through Bluefield High School in 1972. After attending 2 years at Bluefield State College, my young and rebellious self decided the Mountains were not for me any longer and I retreated to Miami, Florida in 1974 where I married and started my family and worked in the medical field until 1992. At that time we lived in Homestead, Florida which is just south of Miami. We were also to be ground zero for Hurricane Andrew!!! As a result of this powerful storm I was "forced" back to the mountains of West Virginia. Funny thing happened though.....as an adult moving back to these mountains I saw the beauty and felt the seasons - I could smell the fresh air and my roots grew deep very quickly. What was supposed to be a temporary home until rebuilding was complete on our home and schools in Homestead, rapidly became our HOME.
Now 15 years later my two girls are grown. They have gone through the School System here in Mercer County just as I did and they have gotten an excellent education. My son, Louis, is 16 and he is a special needs child with a diagnosis of Autism. He attends Bluefield High School in the Autism Program and I must say for a smaller town we have a very good Special Ed department.
I started into Real Estate as a Profession where I could somewhat set my own hours and found a niche
in the community that I have thoroughly enjoyed. The thrill of finding a home for folks or helping to sell a home for a family is very rewarding. I appreciate the clients I have had and I am excited to meet the people and families I will help in the future.Please keep me in mind when you are shopping for a new place to hang your hat!
